Kroger Lovin'

So, it's just passed midnight and I'm thinking about what an awesome day it was.

My friend Irma and I hit the 24 hour Kroger - arriving at around 12:45 am. There were a couple dozen other 'crazy' midnight couponers there shopping, mostly standing in line to check out in one of the two open lanes. Would you believe that we didn't get out of there until after 5 am? I had my coupons well planned out and organized and it still took FOREVER to make it though the entire store. The checkout process alone probably took 30 minutes between scanning the items and then the bajillion coupons. I had 2 baskets full which is way more than I have EVER bought in one shopping trip. The receipt is taller than me, well over 5 feet long and I'm not even kidding. We had the sweetest, patient, cordial cashier...wish I could remember his name so I could send a note to his manager praising him.

All-in-all it was a fun shopping experience - one I hope that Kroger will repeat again soon. I actually went back again on Saturday afternoon for round 2 with a MUCH SMALLER list. They were out of some of the freebies but it was still really good and super fast this time.

Round 1 (5 hours)
:
Total retail value: $403.99
Total OOP: $129.51
Rebates: 2 totalling $5.00
Super Savings: 70%

round 2 (30 minutes):
Total retail value: $112.22
Total OOP: $32.37
Super Savings: 72%

I'd love to hear about your experience with Kroger's Double Coupon day - did you score awesome deals?
